Fly to Gilgit 1 hr (subject to weather). Upon arrival transfer to hotel. Overnight hotel. In case of cancellation of flight drive (12-14 hrs) to Chilas via Karakorum Highway.
Travel 100 kilometers from Gilgit or 250 kilometers from Chilas over the Karakoram Highway, and arrive at the renowned Hunza, a region of solitude and tranquility.
Drive to Minapin (2245m) in half an hour and trek to Hapakun 3-4 hrs. A steep slope starts from Minapin. The entire trek is through a Juniper forest. Overnight camp.
Continue trekking under the Juniper forest for about 3-4 hours to Tagafari. Another steep climbing day. The rest of the day will be free to explore the area. This is also a base camp for Rakaposhi (7788m).
Trek from Tagafari to Kacheli Lake.
Climb easy-grade snowy slopes for 6-7 hours to the higher camp from where we have beautiful views of the north Faces of Diran and Rakaposhi.
We leave High Camp after midnight and continue our journey to the Mirshikar Peak summit. This is the longest and most difficult day of the walk because we have to start early and the elevation gain to reach the summit is approximately 1300 meters. The last ascent to Mirshakar is difficult and complex since it requires climbing through a ridge of loose stones. This is where the guide plays a crucial role in ensuring the team's safety by leading from the front. From the summit, you can see some of the most breathtaking vistas of peaks, including Rakaposhi, Diran, Ultar, Lady Finger, and the Hunza and Nagar valleys.
Climb down to the camp at Kacheli.
Trek down to Tagafari and continue to Minapin.
After the 75-kilometer drive from Minapin to Gilgit, spend the day seeing Gilgit, including the local bazaars, the famous Kargah Buddha, and the picturesque Gilgit river. This gateway to the Karakoram offers a bustling environment as well as breathtaking mountain views.
