Tour Itinerary
DAY 01: ISLAMABAD TO SKARDU
On this Day
- Take an hour-long morning flight from Islamabad to Skardu, or drive to Chilas via the Karakoram Highway for an overnight stop.
- Explore the Skardu bazaar.
- Visit the Katpana Cold Desert to see a beautiful sunset.
- Overnight at a hotel in Skardu.
DAY 02: DRIV ETO KHAPLU
On this Day
- Drive to Khaplu (3-4 hours, 103 kilometers).
- Visit the old Khaplu Palace, which is now both a museum and a luxury hotel.
- Explore Chaqchan Mosque, one of the region's oldest mosques (established in 1370).
- Stroll by the Shyok River.
- Overnight in a hotel or guesthouse in Khaplu.
DAY 03: DRIVE TO SIACHEN
DAY 04: KHAPLU EXPLORATION
On this Day
Hike to Thoqsikhar Fort or visit the tranquil Haldi Cones. Visit adjacent communities to learn about traditional Balti life. Enjoy the magnificent views of the Masherbrum Range. Overnight at a hotel in Khaplu.
DAY 05: KHAPLU TO SHIGAR
On this Day
- Drive to Shigar Valley (5-6 hours, 140 kilometers).
- Discover the renowned Shigar Fort, a heritage monument renovated by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
- Explore the Shigar chilly desert or hike to adjacent settlements.
- Overnight at a hotel in Shigar.
DAY 06: SHIGAR TO SKARDU
On this Day
- Drive back to Skardu (1.5-2 hours).
- Optional visits to Sadpara Lake and Shangrila Resort.
- Skardu offers free time for shopping and sightseeing.
- Overnight at a hotel in Skardu.
DAY 07: FLY BACK TO ISLAMABAD
On this Day
- Take a morning flight back to Islamabad or drive back via KKH, with an overnight stop in Chilas as needed.
- Optional sightseeing in Islamabad upon arrival.
